We are situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of Matlock, yet within easy walking distance of the town centre and bus and railway stations. Whatever your interests - touring, walking, cycling, history & heritage, trains & trams, shopping, museums or simply letting the world go by - you will find there is plenty for all ages to see & do in Derbyshire, and all are easily accessed from Ellen House.
All rooms are furnished with quality furnishings. Each room has its own unique touches and great attention is paid to detail and comfort. Each room has a colour TV and all rooms are centrally heated and double glazed. Rooms are equipped with a well-stocked hospitality tray with home made treats. We also provide all linen and towels as well as hair dryers and toiletries.
Enjoy our excellent, hearty full English breakfast made with locally sourced produce. We specialize in vegetarian and vegan meals and will provide guests with excellent, varied vegetarian or vegan breakfast menus. By prior arrangement we will provide packed lunches for hikers/bikers or a light snack for guests arriving late at night.
Tourist information is available, as are maps, books, information on walking routes etc. We can also provide our guest with drying facilities, invaluable after a long hike in the surrounding countryside. There is a pleasant, terraced garden with town and countryside views for guests' use.

Accommodation
Our 4 diamond silver award accommodation consists of 3 en-suite rooms. Our Garden Room is a double en-suite room with a king size bed. The room has direct access to the garden and a small private patio. There is also another double room with en-suite facilities while our twin bedded/family room, also with en-suite facilities, can accommodate a family with 2 small children.

Directions
From Derby and the South Take the A6 towards Matlock. Travel through Cromford and Matlock Bath. On entering Matlock, pass the Boathouse Inn on the left and continue under the railway bridge. Continue through the traffic lights until the road bends to the right. Keep left at the bend. You will pass the Royal Bank of Scotland on your right. Ellen House is situated about 200 yards up the road on your left. It is the last house on the roadside and the only house with a garage.
