Barn Farm is a traditional, Derbyshire gritstone stock-farm dating back to the 1500s. Based in Birchover, near Matlock, Barn Farm overlooks the beautiful Derwent Valley.
The farm itself is situated amongst 300 acres of land which attract wildlife such as badgers and rare Black Fallow deer, and also boasts over 60 species of birds including Nuthatch and Dippers.
Located 7 miles south of Bakewell and three miles west of Matlock, Barn Farm is set perfectly to access some of Derbyshire’s most popular tourist attractions.
The Limestone Way passes close to the farm, providing access to no less than four major footpaths. Bordering the farm is Stanton Moor with its ancient Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill, offering spectacular views across to the North, East and West. The locality offers well-maintained footpaths and walking routes throughout the area. A little further away is the river Lathkill, leading to a pleasant walk through the beautiful Lathkill Dale.
Robin Hood's Stride and Catcliffe Rocks are just two of the many different sites for climbing, and there are other superb sporting facilities near Birchover such as fishing, riding and watersports.
For lovers of architectural heritage, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by, whereas Matlock Bath provides the perfect day out for all the family, with a variety of attractions nearby including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham.
