Elton Holidays

Elton Holidays offers a choice of three, self-catering properties, each full of character, between them accommodating from two to six guests. Pepperpot Cottage and Twogates Cottage, are both fully restored, 19th-century cottages for two to four people plus a cot. Private parking is available at each of the properties.

Short breaks are available. Sorry no pets.

The third property is an impressive, grade-2 listed, Georgian farmhouse which has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard. Greengate Farm is regarded as the most attractive and original house in the village.

Elton village and its surroundings

Elton is a conservation village in an elevated position overlooking beautiful, upland scenery typical of an area known as the White Peak. For guests keen on active country pursuits, the countryside surrounding Elton offers walking, climbing and riding, with the opportunity to ramble along sheltered lanes and dales renowned for their beauty and bio-diversity.

Attractions and tourist facilities

Despite being one of the most unspoiled villages in the White Peak, Elton is not remote, being situated only five miles from the country towns of Bakewell and Matlock, the latter being connected by rail south to Derby, and north to High Peak and Manchester.

There are village pubs in the locality for eating out, and numerous other places to visit and dine within easy reach. For lovers of architectural heritage, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just a short journey away by bus or car. For all-round family entertainment, Matlock and Matlock Bath offer year-round attractions including cable-car rides, theme parks, restaurants and shops.

The Accommodation

Pepperpot Cottage has a double bedroom for two guests, a spiral staircase, a conservatory/dining room, and lots of character features. This 4-star-rated cottage is fully equipped and centrally heated, with electricity, gas, bedding and towels included. In addition a washing machine, cot and high chair are available for both Pepperpot Cottage and Twogates Cottage (below). Outside there is a patio and lock-up cycle shed.

Twogates Cottage is situated in the cobbled courtyard at the rear of Elton guesthouse. This 3-star-rated property has two bedrooms - 1 double and 1 twin - sleeping four people in total. The cottage is cosy and warm, with beamed ceilings and a stone fireplace. Outside there is a pleasant south-facing patio and a small garden.

Greengate Farm

This 4-star rated accommodation comprises two good-sized bedrooms, one with double bed, and one a family bedroom with double and single bed plus a guest bed, in total sleeping 5 or 6 people. A lovely bathroom with corner bath and electric shower completes the all-round comfort of this house, which is centrally heated throughout. Outside there is a south-facing patio with good-sized garden, and parking either outside the property or in the owner’s private car park 200 yards away.
