What's On / Ashbourne Highland Gathering
The annul Ashbourne Highland Gathering event held at the Ashbourne Recreation Ground attracts visitors and tourists alike from all over the globe.
The event itself hosts a wide range of entertainment and sports for spectators and participants aimed at the whole family.
The non-stop amusement in the Main Arena sees the Royal Marines Military Band supported by Pipe Bands from Luton University and British Airways. Olympian Geoff Capes again brings his amazing team of International Competitors.

The renowned Eagle and Vulture Show and Stuart Walton Sheep Dog display add to the attractions. The spectacular Mass Bands of the Ashbourne Highland Gathering will finish the Main Arena display. In the Pipe Band Arena the Traditional Pipe Band competitions and the first Drum Majors heats will continue.
The Village Green area also has a non-stop festival of activity with the Ashbourne and Nottingham Scottish Country Dancers, Morris Men, Sheep Shearing and a great deal more. The family fun continues with Tug of War, Solo Piping, Highland Dancing, Annual Hill Race, Children’s Sports, Scottish Clans, stalls, craft marquee, beer marquee and children’s amusements.
The street parade of pipe bands march through the town centre of Ashbourne and the exciting finale to the Drum Majors challenge as they attempt to throw their mace over the two banners strategically placed on route.
