Founded in 1784, the spinning mill took power from a local brook to produce the knitwear it became renowned for. Now part of a World Heritage Site, the factory is situated in 'an area of outstanding beauty'.

Temple Mine, with its network of tunnels was acquired by the ancient custom of 'Nicking'. The mine has been worked since 1922 for flueorite and lead ore, and shows the variety of mining methods used.
