The Centre occupies a building once used for producing silk and velvet cloth. Displays illustrate the life of the town from its inception to modern times. A gift shop, art gallery and restaurant are on site.

Open Times: 10.30am-4.30pm (Sundays 1.30pm-4.30pm.) Last Admission 4pm.

Middleton Top Engine House

The Middleton Top Engine site houses the restored steam engine house built in 1829 by the Butterley Company to haul wagons up the Middleton incline. The site has a visitor centre, gift shop and cycle hire centre, car park and family pinic area.
