A popular village with walkers, set in a valley alongside the River Dove. There is little more than some stone cottages, and also a barn provided by the National Trust giving local tourist information. There are the remnants of 2 mills in the area and you can find a millstone lying by the riverbank. Viator Bridge spans the Dove and provides the link between Milldale and Dovedale, a very popular walk due to the outstanding beauty of the area.
