Milton

About Milton

A small village close to Repton whose main occupation is agriculture. Today it is just a commuter community of approximately 150 people.

The Burdett estate was sold to the Prudential Assurance Company in 1943, it was then sold on to the church commissioners who still own much of the land around Milton today. An 1881 census showed Milton consisted of only 194 people with 39 households, 7 farms, 1 inn and a shop.

The old mission room which was provided by the Burdett family is now the village hall.

An ice stone which stands outside is believed, to have been brought down in the last Ice Age.
