Known as the ‘plague village’, Eyam is in a wonderful setting in the Derbyshire Peak District, and is also one of the best preserved in the area. It was in 1665 that the plague inadvertently arrived from London and the whole population of the village voluntarily went into quarantine. The village also contains Eyam hall, a wonderful 17th century manor house, built in 1676. The amount of history that surrounds this world famous village makes it a very popular tourist spot.
