Tutbury Castle

Set deep in the heart of England, Tutbury Castle is an extraordinary place. against a backdrop of spectacular countryside.

About Tutbury Castle

Tutbury Castle is an extraordinary place. At first glance, as you climb the drive, it seems Cromwell has not left us much to enjoy. In fact, as you go through the ancient gate known as "John of Gaunt's", you are likely to gasp. There, amid a wonderful inner bailey, is a beautiful ruin - of which a sizable section remains complete and intact. Additionally, you will discover some fabulously stunning views overlooking the Dove Valley - which can be thoroughly enjoyed whatever the season.

During the week visitors often bring picnics - whiling away the hours either lazing on the grass, enjoying a ball game or two or exploring the "Great Hall" and fantastic ruins. In the holidays, as on the weekends (particularly Sundays), the Castle brims with families and young children - running about and enjoying a sense of great freedom. In fact your visit can a quiet and reflective affair, a time for family fun and frolics or an adventurous journey through time.

Although once a hive of activity, in that a small town had once thrived within its walls, the castle grounds rarely feel crowded.
