Great Longstone

About Great Longstone

Close to the village of Bakewell, this attractive village in the Derbyshire Peak District is under the vale of Longstone Edge, and contains some fine period buildings including Great Longstone Hall and the Shackly building, said to have housed the Earl of Shrewsbury in the 17th century.

Lead was mined in this region and Flemish weavers who settled in the 18th century set up a stocking industry.
