Stonecroft

About Stonecroft

You will find a warm welcome awaits you at Stonecroft, our second generation family run guest house in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District. The setting of our charming house never ceases to appeal and we are lucky enough to be situated in the beautiful and historic hamlets of Edale.

Stonecroft is ideal for the walker, naturalist, geologist or just plain lover of the outdoors with regular visits from badgers, cuckoos, herons and woodpeckers. The house is Victorian in style although it was built using local Derbyshire stone in the early 1900's. It still features the original stained glass windows and other features from that period. Many of the heathers in the garden were planted when the house was first built and nothing can be more relaxing than afternoon tea during the summer taken in the garden where an air of peace and tranquility abounds.

Bedrooms

The attractive centrally heated rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard with many antiques and period pieces.

Your host is a qualified interior designer and works as a professional photographer. Many examples of her work can be seen throughout the house.

All bedrooms have beautiful views and either private or en-suite facilities. They have a clock radio, dressing gowns and beverage tray, as well as those little extras to show that we really care about the comfort of our guests including complimentary fruit bowls and chocolates.

An iron, ironing board, shoe cleaning equipment and drying facilities are also available.

Facilities

Awake to birdsong and stunning views, with sheep or cows often grazing peacefully in the fields surrounding the house, then relax in the period dining room over a traditional country house breakfast with homemade bread and preserves and a varied menu.

Our policy at Stonecroft is to provide our guests with a breakfast that is both healthy and full of flavour. You will find that as many of our products as possible are sourced locally and are organic or chemical free. We only use premium quality ingredients. We do not eat inferior foods, would never dream of feeding them to our guests and are proud that many of the ingredients we use have been awarded an Environmental Quality mark (EQM).

Your host is a qualified Chef and has won numerous prizes for her culinary skills as well as a scholarship to Holland to study catering there.

We cater for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and most special diets (your host is both vegetarian and on a gluten free diet).

We have been presented with a smoke free Zone award by High Peak Borough Council and our guests appreciate the fact that our house is smoke free. We therefore respectfully ask all our guests to refrain from smoking in either the house or grounds.
