New Zealand Merino Wool

Our extra-fine Merino wool is sourced from select growers in New Zealand’s South Island. This luxurious, soft yarn is not only naturally warm and durable, but also sustainably produced. Since 1995, we’ve partnered with trusted wool growers under a unique sourcing programme, supported by Zque accreditation. This guarantees ethical treatment of animals and high environmental standards throughout the supply chain.

Made in England

We’re proud to produce most of our garments in our Derbyshire mill, staying true to our origins while maintaining complete control over quality and traceability. Every John Smedley sweater takes approximately seven weeks to complete, involving over 1.2 million stitches and three miles of yarn. There are no shortcuts—only the highest standards at every stage of the process.
