Calke Abbey

Vivid example of a great country house in decline, with extraordinary contents, historic park and restored garden.

About Calke Abbey

This baroque mansion has become famous as a graphic illustration of the English country house in decline. Little restored, the house contains extraordinary interiors that are little unchanged since the 1880s. The grounds feature a beautiful walled garden with an Auricula Theatre, an Orangery and the recently repaired Peach House.
